Eating before a gig or match in Cardiff
The venues, how far they are, when to arrive — and where to eat first, from the table three minutes from Cardiff Castle.
Cardiff fills up fast on an event night. The Castle, the Principality, the arena — thousands arrive inside the same hour, and every kitchen near the gates feels it at once. The trick is simple: eat before, not after. Arrive a couple of hours early, eat properly in a calm room, and walk to the doors with time to spare. Here's how to time it.
The venues, and how far they are
Almost everything that matters in Cardiff happens within a short walk of 15 High Street, right at the top of the city centre by the Castle.

Eat first. Here's why.
When a show or a match ends, ten thousand people want the same thing at the same moment. Kitchens are winding down, the good places are full, and you spend the end of your night in a queue. Come a couple of hours before instead and none of that is your problem — you eat well, unhurried, and stroll to the gates.
How to time it
Give yourself about ninety minutes at the table. Doors at most Cardiff Castle shows open in the early evening; stadium gates open well ahead of kick-off or stage time. Book for roughly two hours before your event and you'll never feel rushed. We hold tables through the afternoon on event days and open from twelve, every day.
The Pre-Show
Our event-night offer, built to be quick when you've somewhere to be: any thali, or two courses — and a drink with it.
£19.95 a head
And after the show
Out late? The kitchen's still on. The After the Show menu runs on event nights — small plates, biryani, thalis and curries, the easy way, when the city spills back out.
